Saturday April 4th
Central Utd  2 V 2 West Hill Hornets

United did well to get back in the game after letting in a couple of early goals. What would the team do for a clean sheet just now? Cain Garry started the fight back with a well taken goal after some good work from James Pearce. Soon after Ryan Lee finished well after a neat dribble and in the end United were unlucky not to win the game.

Saturday April 4th
Central Utd 1 V 7 West Hill Wasps

No escape from the fact that United suffered a good thrashing at the hands of a strong Westhill side. United struggled to clear the ball from defence and the opposition took advantage on seven occasions. A consolation goal from Leon Ryder Potter was the high point of the game, but this was a match to learn lessons from.

Saturday April 4th
Central city  6 V 0 West Hill Hornets

Central City played some delightful football against West Hill Hornets. City went ahead 2 minutes into the game when Thomas Roome converted a Bradley Down cross. Central settled into a rhythm and made it hard for The Hornets to gain possession. Bradley Down scored a glorious header from a fine Jim Shepherd cross and Jim got one himself to make it 3-0 at the break. The Hornets came out more determined in the second half and put Central under pressure but the defensive partnership of Reece Allen and Will Tutchings were equal to it. William Johns in goal dealt with anything that did get through. Central then reasserted themselves towards the end of the second half with two more goals from Bradley Down and one more from Jim Shepherd for a well deserved win. Paddy Randall played well in his return to the Central side.

Saturday April 4th
Central City 3 V 2 West Hill Wasps

Central City come out the victors in a fast passed action filled encounter. Central went ahead through Bradley Down after a couple of minutes. Central then gave the Wasps too much space in attack and they duly equalised. Central woke up and played with real determination. Bradley was inspirational and spurred the others on to work for the win. Aiden Pring slotted home a loose ball that rebounded of the wasps defence and Bradley got another goal to make it 3-1 at the break. West Hill got one back early in the second half as Central failed to track back and pick up men leaving the wasps with 3 against the keeper. Encouraged by the this, the Wasps rained in shots but Central's Jake Newman played made a series of outstanding saves to deny them the equaliser.

Saturday March 28th
Alphington 0 v 3 Central Utd

A friendly match against a weakened Alphington saw Leon Ryder Potter snatch three goals in a rare appearance up front. George Cobbold set up two goals with a good pass and fine cross which Ryder Potter nonchalantly headed into the goal.

Saturday March 28th
West Exe 5 v 0 Central Utd

A disappointing result but a fine performance United could easily have scored six and had they not forgotten how to tackle would have been worthy winners. A gutsy performance from Ruari Mold and some tireless defending from Ben Haigh were among the bright spots of the United performance.

Saturday March 28th
West Exe 2 v 1 Central City

Central and West Exe played out a close fought match. West Exe started the strongest, taking the lead mid way through the first half. A second followed, and only top class saves from keeper Jake Newman kept Central in the game. Central started to assert themselves before the break with Aiden Pring hitting the post and Jim Shepherd coming close. Central came out confident after the break and looked like scoring. After several near misses Central's goal came from William Johns. Central finished strongly but ran out of time to get an equaliser.

Saturday March 28th
Alphington 2 v 6 Central City

Central City and Alphington played a friendly giving both teams the chance to try out some new ideas. Alpington looked the stronger for much of the first half, scoring two goals which Thomas Roome replied to twice for Central to set the score at 2-2 at half time. Alphington continued to play well but Central looked the stronger in the second half and two goals in quick succession from Jake Newman gave central a comfortable cushion. Two more goals followed from Will Tutchings and Jim Shepherd.

Saturday March 21st
Sidmouth Raiders 0 v 0 Central City

Having met Sidmouth Raiders on 2 previous occasions this season Central city took the opportunity to try out a few changes. Leon Ryder Potter put in a very creditable performance in his first outing for City. Reece Allen and William Tutchings enjoyed the more free roaming role afforded to them with Laurence Joy keeping things tight at the back. City created many chances but found an excellent raiders keeper on top form. The raiders had good attacking spells and William Johns was called on to keep City's slate clean.

Saturday March 21st
Sidmouth Warriors 2 v 0 Central City

Central City played well against the warriors and matched them for most of the game. The real difference was the clinical finishing of the Warriors . Central looked like scoring on a number of occasions following good build up play frequently involving Aiden Pring, Jim Shepherd and Thomas Roome but they were unable to convert their chances and ended up disappointed not to have got a point.

Under 10's Plate tournament

Central City made it through to the U10s plate final by finishing top of their group in the mini league tournament.
After being held to a 0-0 Draw by Cully Reds in the opening match, Central got into their stride beating West Hill Hornets 1-0 thanks to a goal from Bradley Down. Central then beat Sidmouth Raiders 2-0 withs
goals from Bradley Down and Aiden Pring. In the final match Central beat Brixington Blues 2-0, goals coming from Jim Shepherd and Aiden Pring. Central keepers Jake Newman and William Johns kept a clean sheet

Saturday 21st Feb 2009

Central City 2-1 Heavitree Eagles

An excellent team performance from Central City saw them hold on for a deserved victory against a strong Heavitree Eagles side.
The team effort was epitomised by both Harvey Young and Freddie James in midfield, who battled throughout. They not only got forward to create problems for Heavitree, but were back tacking hard when City were under pressure. Young fully deserved his two well taken goals and was always a threat going forward.
After going two up, City had to defend strongly and James Bryant in goal pulled off some fine saves. In defence, both Toby Criss and Joseph Heggadon had excellent games.
Heavitree got a deserved goal back five minutes before the end, but the strong team effort saw City home.

Central City 8-0 Heavitree Hawks

Central City were much the stronger side and cruised to an easy win against a Heavitree Hawks team who, to their credit, never gave up.
City raced into a quick lead, with Joseph Glenny on form up front and grabbing four well taken goals in the first half. Joseph Heggadon made some strong attacking runs and added another goal, to make it 5 – 0 by half-time.
The hard working Callum Davison scored a well taken goal shortly after half-time and Toby Criss, enjoying the opportunity to play in a more attacking role, added to the score from close range. The scoring was completed by William Caschere with a good shot through a ‘sea’ of players.
Joshua Morris also came on in the second half and played well, typifying another excellent team performance and a deserved double for City over Heavitree.

Central Utd 7-0 Heavitree Hawks

A great first 5 minutes from United with the midfield and defence attempting passing movements. This was a great improvement from the Cup game. At halftime United were 2-0 up thanks to Nathan Townsend. After substitutions at half-time, the goals flowed from both Talie Metcalfe-Wood - taking advantage of Frank Trimble's wingplay and accurate crossing - and also Thomas O'Donnell with one solo run particularly memorable. Also thanks to Hawks for a game played in great spirit and effort through to the final whistle.

Central Utd 4-0 Heavitree Eagles

Determination and good team play again saw United win a hard fought game. Nathan Townsend was simply terrific running through from midfield to score several outstanding goals. Also to the fore was William Gregory in defence who is using the ball more intelligently now after the tackle. Arthur Burrow came on and increased energy levels with his aggressive running and tackling.

Saturday 24th January 2009

Central City 3-1 Broadclyst

Central took an early lead with Aiden Pring edging in a firmly struck Bradley Down cross. Central had Broadclyst back who defended well and took the chance to break against a Central team who were pushing too far forward and not getting back to defend. The equaliser woke Central up and a good spell of attractive passing football led to two goals from Bradley down in quick succession. Broadclyst soaked up more central pressure during the second half but a series of brilliant saves by the keeper prevented further score.

Central City 12-1 Newton knights

Newton knights demonstrated much character when faced with the much stronger Central City. The knights were under pressure from the off and had an early scare when Laurence Joy hit a screamer that bounced down of the cross bar and hit the goal line but bounced outwards. Central found a rhythm and hat full of goals ensued. Bradley Down and Thomas Roome bagged 4 each, Aiden Pring hit a hat trick and Reece Allen got one to make it an even 12. Stand in keeper Jim Shepherd had saves to make and helped set up Central attacks with thoughtful distribution but could only stand helpless and watch the sole Newton Knights goal fly in. Although he didn't score, Jake Newman was man of the match, putting in solid performance and setting up many of the goals-not bad for a keeper playing out on pitch!

Central united 1-1 Broadclyst

An evenly matched game which kept the crowd on their toes finally resulted in a draw. Ryan Lee put United ahead after a good tackle and pass from Ruari Mold. As United tired Broadclyst scored an equaliser after two fine saves from William Johns.

Central united 6-2 Newton Knights

An early goal from Ryan Lee set the scene for an impressive performance from United. Ruari Mold added two more goals, one fine shot, leaving United well on top at half time.
Cain Garry scored two more after the break, and James Pearce added the sixth. Newton competed well and deserved two goals to even up the score.

Saturday 06 December 2008

Dawlish 2-3 Central Utd

With multiple absences Central City fielded a reconfigured team who put in two very creditable performances. Going an early goal behind to Dawlish was a test of character but Central responded well. Bradley Down put Thomas Roome through to slot one past the onrushing Dawlish Keeper for Centrals's first. Dawlish went in 2-1 ahead at the break following a deflected long range strike. Central responded shortly after the break this time with Bradley Down electing to shoot himself whilst the run of Aiden Pring caused confusion in the Dawlish defence. Bradley got Central's third, with a fine solo effort running two thirds of the length of the pitch on his own and beating the keeper. Dawlish pressed hard but were unable to draw level. Thanks to to a sporting Dawlish team who played 6 -a-side whilst waiting for a 7th Central player to arrive

Newton 66 4-0 Central Utd
Newton 66 proved too stong for Central City. Making the most of first half downhill advantage Newton went in 3-0 at the break. Central were stronger in the second half with the slope palying for them this time but were unable to score and let in one last goal right at the end. Chad Allery put in two outstanding perforamces in goal playing his first match for Central.

 Dawlish 8- 0 Central United

A heavy defeat that was disheartening after a good performance against Newton Abbot. An injury to Cain Garry made matters worse although George Cobbold did well in goal. Central tired harder in the second half, but looked tired after their efforts during the previous game.

Newton Abbot 3-1 Central United

A good match from United against one of the strongest sides in the league. Central took the lead after good play from Jacques Croze and Ruari Mold. George Cobbold scored a staright foward goal after a sweet passing move.

In the second half Newton played well and deserved their victory. Billy Curran and Leon Ryder Potter played well in defence.

Saturday 29th November 2008

Sidmouth 3-0 Central Utd (cup)

Central City's defence of the cup ended at the first round stage losing 3-0 to Sidmouth Warriors. In truth the game was closer than the score line would suggest but Sidmouth made the most of periods of sustained pressure in the way that Central could not. The whole Central team played well but couldn't match Sidmouth who deserved the win.

In a friendly match Central City beat Sidmouth Raiders 4-2. Goals came from Bradley Down, Aiden Pring, Jim Shepherd and Reece Allen. The Raiders came back from 2-0 down after early goals from Central to bring the score to 2-2 at half time. Central sorted themselves out in the break and looked the stronger team in the second half. Two more goals put the match safe but it took a double goal line clearance from Thomas Roome to prevent a last minute Warriors goal.

Saturday 22nd November 2008

Central City 0-3 Exwick

Central City played well but were pretty much ouplayed in every department against a good looking Exwick side. City started the strongest, with Jim Shepherd and Aiden Pring coming close in the first few minutes. Exwick got into their stride and put City under pressure but good organised defending from William Tutchings and Reece Allen, with great cover from Thomas Roome droping back out of midfield, looked like holding things level until Exwick scored a few seconds before half time. City started the second half full of pupose to try to get the goal back but after Exwick got a second, City lost their shape and composure. Great gooalkeeping by man-of -the match William Johns kept the score line down with only one more Exwick goal conceeded before full time. City players will need to learn how to mentally deal with going two goals down if they are to fight back against strong sides like Exwick.

Central Utd 1-3 Exwick

Central United played well against a robust Exwick Team but conceded a goal early in the game after some very fragile tackling. Despite the set back United fought hard and Ben Haigh was outstanding in the heart of the defence.

Jacques Croze scored an equaliser after a good cross from Ruari Mold. In the second half United almost got a second goal after good work from Leon Ryder Potter and James Pearce. A good effort from United against a strong team.

Saturday 8th November 2008

Central City 1-Tiverton town 2

Central City started brightly against Tiverton town putting early pressure on the Tivvy goal . Central were then caught out by a long clearance  flicked on for the Tiverton striker to shoot home.  Tiverton were  strong  in attack and tested the  Central defence including  new player  Paddy Randall who was equal to the task. The teams were closely matched and  the score line remained  1-0 till half time. Tiverton scored almost straight from the second half kick off  with a good passing movement from the two Tiverton front players.   Central pushed up and pressurised Tiverton. This paid off when   Will Tutchings scored form a corner via touches from the Tiverton keeper and defenders. Central continued to pressurise but failed to convert their chances as Tiverton held on for the win.

Central City 4- Culm united 0

An Aiden Pring hat trick capped a great team performance form central city against a useful looking Culm Side. Aiden opened his account midway through the first half. Finding himself all alone up front he had no choice but to beat the two Culm defenders and then Cooley slot the ball past  on rushing Culm Keeper. Culm Fought back and held the score to 1-0 at half time. Central took control with two goals in quick succession early in  second half, one from Aiden Pring tapping home a loose ball in the goal mouth and then a header from  Reece Allen after Thomas Roome had headed on from a corner. Aiden got his third midway through the second half to make it 4-0. To their credit Culm did not give up and forced Central Keeper Jake Newman into action on several occasions.

Central United 0-2 Tiverton

United played well against a good side from Tiverton. Against the run of play United conceeded two goals, but could easily have got back in the game. Ben Haigh competed well, and was helped by Billy Curran who tackled anything that moved.

Central United  2 -2  Culm Vale

After loosing to the same team just a week ago United showed alot of determination, and fought their way back into the game after conceeding an early goal. JAcques Croze showed speed and a newly discovered confidence to get the first goal for Central.

At half time Will Johns took over in goal and made several fine saves. Central scored a well deserved equaliser when Ryan Lee slipped his shot past the Culm keeper. A good result against a good side.

Saturday 25th October 2008

Central United 3 Pinhoe Gladiators 4

James Pearce scored the opening goal of the game with a well taken shot. United were shocked by a 4 goal burst from the Gladiators whose shooting was excellent. The second half saw a determined fight back from United. Pearce scored again with his head, and Cain Garry scored a goal from close range. Lawrence Joy had a good debut for United.

Central United 2 Pinhoe Spartans 2

A fine save from Jake Newman encouraged United to fight for a point against a strong Pinhoe team. James Pearce scored United's first goal and a changed team played well. Ruari Mold set up the equaliser for Cain Garry after some elusive running down the right wing

Central City 1 Pinhoe Spartans 2

Central City looked like they were on half term from football as well as from school. Pinhoe Spartans knew how to make the best of the small pitch and kept the ball firmly up the Central end for most of the first half. Central defended well but were not able to progress the ball up and keep it up the other end. Man-of-the match Jim Shepherd proved he can help out in defence when it really counts with a fantastic, well timed tackle running back with the Pinhoe forward. The 1-0 score line at half time reflected the balance of play. Central were a little brighter in the second half but went two behind by failing to pick up the two Pinhoe forwards properly. That finally shoook Central into into life and for the last 5 minutes they looked a different team. When Aiden Pring got one back for the visitors it looked like 'game-on' but Central just ran out of time.

Central City 9 Pinhoe Gladiators 0

A towering  four goal performance from Thomas Roome was just what Central needed in a return to their winning ways against Pinhoe Gladiators. Aiden Pring opened the Central account, Thomas Roome scored his first with a neat back healer and Jim Shpeherd made it 3-0 before the break, squeezing a left foot shot through a crowd of Pinhoe Defenders. Bradley Down took a brace early in the second half and Will Tutchings made it 6. Thomas Roome then moved up from defence to attack and immediately scored from a long range shot. His third came when the otherwise excellent Pinhoe keeper turned Thomas's cross into the net. Thomas sealed his perfomance by being first to react when Reece Allen's shot hit the post, runing in quickly and getting an outstretched leg to the ball just in front of the diving  Pinhoe keeper. William Johns in goal was able to deal with the Pinhoe attacks , mostly resulting from superb long clearances from  their  keeper.

Saturday 11th October 2008

Central United 4 - 0 Heavitree Phantoms

Central United scored four goals in the second half to record their second win of the season. An excellent performance in midfiels saw Jacques Croze score two goals and help Ryan Lee to a third. Ben HAigh again showed what a valuable player he is to the team with another goal from long range.

Central United 0 - 2 Heavitree Harriers

Two early defensive errors saw United rather deflated at half time and the team were slow to adjust to the improvements in the Heavitree team from last season. A better performance in the second hlf was built on good defensive work between Billy Curran and the flamboyant genius of Leon Ryder Potter. After the match the team manager muttered the immortal words control- look - pass as he has done all season, and United are gradually beginning to understand what he is talking about.

Central City 1 - 2 Heavitree Harriers

Central City and Heavitree Harriers pretty much matched each other in all parts of the pitch. Quick thinking keeper William Johns, prevented an early Heavitree lead when he ran out of the box to clear with his feet . Deadlocked 0-0 at half time, Reece Allen put the home team in front following a run down the right wing which found him in the box and perfectly placed to score. Heavitree never stop battling and scored two good goals from an almost identical position when Central failed to close down about 10 yards out. Central City piled on the pressure for the last 5 minutes but good saves from the Heavitree keeper prevented them from levelling the ma

Central City 11 - 0 Heavitree Phantoms

Central City proved too strong for the Heavitree Phantoms. An early lead ,courtesy of a Heavitree turning a Thomas Roome shot into their own net was the start. First half goals followed from Geroge Cobbold, Reece Allen and 2 from Laurence Joy. City reorganised at half time but still found the net 6 more times with 2 more from Thomas Roome, 2 from Aiden Pring, another Geroge Cobbold strike and a fine long range effort from Jim Shepherd to complete the tally. Heavitree Phantoms had their moments and came close when a shot rattled William Johns Crossbar. Apart from the keeper, the only Central player not to score was captain and man-of-the- match William Tutchings, once again proving that it is not getting your name on the score sheet that counts.

Saturday 27th September 2008
Alphington 0 - 4 Central City

Two good passing sides palyed out a game that was a real pleasure to watch and played in good spirit. Aiden Pring broke the deadlock after 10 minutes tapping in a flick on from a throw in. Reece Allen scored a wonder goal for Centrals second, picking the ball up from defence, running two thirds of the pitch close to the wing, jumping over two depsperate tackles and then firing in an unstopable shot to the top corner from 15 yards right out on the touch line.Alphington barely had time to draw breath before Jim Shepherd knocked in Central's third before the break. The Alphington keeper did well keeping Central at bay in the second half until Jim Shepherd hit one with his left foot to seal the game for Central.

A friendly match was then played against a lively Alphington 'second' team. Centrals goals came from Aiden Pring (2), Will Tutchings, Thomas Roome, Bradley Down and a very coolely taken penalty by usual keper Jake Newman. Keeper William Johns made some good saves to keep a clean sheet against an Alphington team that created many chances.

Saturday 13th September 2008

Central United 1 Stoke Hill 1

United did well to get back into this game after Stoke Hill started the game strongly. Ben Haigh scored a later equaliser from close range after some excellent defensive work from Billy Curran.

Central United 2 Moors Youth 5

Central played exceptionally well in this game and forced their way back into the match after conceeding two early goals. Ryan Lee, making his debut, set up the first of Central's goals, crossing the ball to the exuberant James Pearce. Pearce confidently scored from the penalty spot after a Moors player handled on the line. For a moment it looked as if Central could have earned a surprise victory after good work from Ben Haigh and Ruari Mold. Three late goals showed the quality of the Moors team, although the final result hardly reflected a determined and solid team performance.

Central City 0 - 3 Moors

Central City looked a little Rusty on their first outing of the season. A well organised Moors capitalised on this and took a 2 goal lead in at half time. A series of injuries weakened Central who had to play on with just 6 men for a while and relied on Keeper Jake Newman, and an outstanding defensive performance from Reece Allen to prevent them falling further behind. Although much better organised in the second half, a third goal taken skilfully on the break by Moors effectively killed the game.

Central City 2 - 1 Stoke Hill

Central City regained their composure for the game against Stoke Hill. Although going behind to an early goal, Central always looked the better side. Stoke Hill withstood wave after wave of attack until Brdaley Down deftly redirected a Jim Shpeherd shot to bring the scores level. Central continued to press,,with Aiden Pring making good running. Jim Shepherd got his, and Centrals just reward by scoring Centrals second with 5 minutes to go. William Johns and Thomas Roome provided the midfield engine that kep the attacks coming and only solid defending and good goalkeeping prevented further Central goals.
