CENTRAL CITY 1 CREDITON B 0

Persistence paid off for Central City who had most of the possession but were finding it difficult to break down a stubborn Crediton B defence. The first half saw chances just go wide of the post from Thomas Roome and Bradley Down. The breakthrough came mid way through the second half when Sebastian Lewis crossed from the right, Jim Shepherd controlled it and fired it into the net.

CENTRAL CITY 0 CREDITON A 3

Against Crediton A, Central City played well for the first half with an outstanding performance by Will Tutchings. Early in the second half Reece Allen had to go off with a bad knee injury and Crediton capitalised on an unsettled City defence to fire home a fine goal. City had chances with good running by Bradley Down but, with obvious signs of tiredness, were caught out twice when pushing up searching for a goal.

CENTRAL UTD 2 CREDITON A 2

Two fine goals from Aiden Pring allowed Central United to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat against a convincing Crediton team. United's comeback owed alot to the fabulous goal-keeping off Cain Garry, who also managed to save a penalty.

CENTRAL UTD 2 CREDITON B 4

United played with great heart in a match that was much closer than the scoreline suggests. Ben Haigh was excellent, as a one man defence, as United threw players forward in an attempt to get back into the game. Richard Deeshapland scored a good goal after solid midfield play from the energetic James Pearce.

THORVERTON 2 CENTRAL CITY 0

An exciting and keenly contested match saw Central City finish second best to a strong Thorverton side. There was good determined play which kept Jake Newman in the Central goal and the Thorverton keeper busy. Thorverton capitalised on Central failing to challenge in midfield to take the lead and then seconds from the end a cruel deflection saw them go two up.

Central had a good chance to take the lead when Jim Shepherd hit the post from a fantastic free kick after Reece Allen was brought down mid way into the Exwick half. Central City had much of the play and took the lead early in the second half through a well deserved Thomas Roome goal. Central came close to getting a second on several occasions with shots from Bradley Down and Sebastian Lewis but a few magnifiecient saves from the Exwick keeper kept them in it. Jim Shepherd played through the pain barrier after picking up a nasty knock. A tiring Central then let Exwick back into the game but held on for a draw.

CENTRAL UTD 1 TIVERTON TOWN 2

A slightly fortunate long range shot, that crept under the crossbar, was an early set back for Central United in a closely fought match against Tiverton Town. CENTRAL UTD 0 MOORS YOUTH 8

Moors proved too strong for Central United who found themselves struggling and six goals behind at half-time. A far better performance in the second half saw Richard Deeshapland attempt an audacious back heel and Leon Ryder-Potter produce a good performance in the forward line. United played until the final whistle and will learn a lot from a difficult game. All the team played well especially Cian Garry who once again made a number of excellent saves.

CENTRAL CITY 1 MOORS YOUTH 4

Central city made a bright start against Moors taking the lead when Jim Shepherd scored with a left foot shot from a Sebastian Lewis cross. Despite making a number of saves, stand in Keeper Thomas Roome was beaten from a fine Moors free kick and a goal bundled in through a crowd of Central players in the first half. Central City effectively lost the chance of geeting back into the game when concentration was lost for a 5 minute spell in the second half allowing Moors to score twice in quick succession.

CENTRAL CITY 0 TIVERTON 2

Without regular keeper Jake Newman Central City looked like a mishapen side aginst Tiverton Town. Will Tutchings kept City in it during the first seeming to cover every inch of the pitch several times over. Central created a few shooting chances in the second half but when Tiverton scored a second there did not look like anyway back.

ST MARTINS 2 CENTRAL UTD 0

A fine performance from Central merited something better than the scoreline suggests. Playing some of their best football of the season Central were just not able to put the ball in the back of the net. Cain Garry played out of goal for the first time this season and showed he has the ability to see a pass, a skill he infectiously transmitted to the rest of the team. Occasionally looking like Arsenal in full flow, Central tore the St. Martins defence to pieces time and time again. Aidan Pring played with imagination and created several chances for the team. Bruising the woodwork repeatedly this was a game Central deserved to win.

DAWLISH 0 CENTRAL CITY 1

Central City put in a really good team performance to beat Dawlish 1-0. Bradley Down playing in defence made some key clearances whilst good running from Sebastian Lewis and Will Tutchings put Dawlish under pressure. When Reece Allen was tripped just outside the box the resulting stunning free kick from Jim Shepherd turned out to be the difference between the sides. CENTRAL UTD 0 PINHOE SPARTANS 3

Central United were always in this game, despite losing by three goals. A pacy Pinhoe attack caught United out in the first half, managing to get behind the Central defence. Billy Curran and 'man of the match' Ben Haigh defended well, but found themselves outnumbered on too many occasions.

CENTRAL UTD 1 PINHOE GLADIATORS 1

A fine performance from United produced another match that they really deserved to win. United put pressure on the Pinhoe defence throughout the first half. The menacing Aidan Pring, tireless James Pearce and the very determined Ruari Mold kept threatening to overwhelm the crowded Pinhoe defence. Just before halftime Leon Ryder Potter scored a wonder goal from somewhere close to the halfway line. A late goal from Pinhoe levelled the score in a well contested match, appreciated by a seemingly vast crowd.

CENTRAL CITY 3 PINHOE SPARTANS 3

A strong start saw Cetntral city go three goals up against Pinhoe Spartans after ten minutes with two goals from Sebastian Lewis and one from Jim Shepherd. City who looked completely in control then left goal keeper Jake Newman exposed and he stood no chance stopping Spartans getting one back before half time. This spurred Spartans on and despite better defending in the second half with Will Tutchings and Reece Allen figting a rear guard action, Spartans scored twice more. Only some excellent keeping near the end by Jake Newman prevented City from conceeding more and the game finished level. Truly a game of two halves.

CENTRAL CITY 3 PINHOE GLADIATORS 2

Central City played some excellent attacking football in the first half against Pinhoe Gladiators with Sebastian Lewis, Jim Shepherd and Thomas Roome linking up with good passing moves, crosses and through balls. This was rewarded with two goals from Thomas Roome, the first a strike from about 10 metres out, and the second the simplest of tap ins just cms from the line following an excellent cross from Sebastian. A goal from Jim Shepherd then put City three goals up. Five minutes loss of concentration and running at the restart saw Central conceed twice before reasserting themselves on the game and finishing the stronger of the two sides.

HEAVITREE BUZZARDS 0 CENTRAL CITY 5 (CUP)

Despite having most of the play, Central City found it hard to break down a determined Buzzards defence. Thomas Roome came close when a long range shot cannoned of the bar but it wasn't until nearly half time that the breakthrough came when Bradley Down headed goalwards and scored via a slight deflection from a Heavitree player. A few positional changes saw a much more positive Central City start the second half. Within minutes good link up play between Sebastian Lewis and Jim Shepherd saw Jim fire in the first of his goals. Three more followed at regular intervals and City dominated the closing stages of the match. Buzzards had a few chances but City keeper Jake Newman was rarely troubled with sound defensive play by Reece Allen and Will Tutchings keeping them at distance.

HEAVITREE KESTRELS 1 CENTRAL CITY 5 (FRIENDLY)

A friendly match between Heavitree Kestrels ended 5-1 with Jake Newman scoring a hat trick having been given a rare chance to play outfield. The ensuing shot gave stand in keeper Sebastian Lewis no chance. An early second half City corner was the perfect steadier for City when a good delivery from Will Tutchings found Jake Newman who scored with a fine attacking header. Second half strikes from Bradley Down and Jake Newman completed City’s tally of 5 goals.

CENTRAL UTD 1 BRIXINGTON BLUES 2 (Cup)

A tough fixture in the first round of the cup produced a fine performance from United, who in the end were unlucky to lose this game. For the first time this season United came up against a team who took their corners well, and the resulting defensive chaos saw United concede a second goal just after the half-time break. Undaunted, James Pearce found Aidan Pring who skilfully whacked the ball against the Brixington keeper, and then casually flicked the rebound into the net. Ben, motorman Haigh went all over the pitch and Leon Ryder-Potter read the game well in defence. Pearce was nominated man of the match by the beleaguered United manager.

Billy Curran made a nuisance of himself in the Central attack and helped United hold onto their lead until halftime. In the second half a stronger Brixington side forced United back despite the best efforts of Garry who relished the chance to play upfront. Two late goals after more problems from corners robbed United of a victory that is both overdue and deserved.

The Coyotes scored from a good free kick to make it two and netted again before half time. City refound their composure in the second half and were unlucky to concede again against the run of play. Will Tutchings worked tirelessly throughout both games and deserved the man of the match award.

A few minutes later Aiden Pring picked up a loose ball midway in the opponents half and kept a cool head when through one on one with the keeper to make the score 2-0. West Hill Wasps looked dangerous with some long high balls getting in behind the defence and testing keeper Jake Newman who once again kept a clean sheet.

Kalhan Jogireddy also helped out with defensive duties and made some good long clearances.

KENTISBEARE 0 CENTRAL CITY 8

On a wet a very muddy pitch Goalie Jake Newman's sheet was the only thing kept clean! Central City seemingly cruised to victory with 4 goals from Bradley Down, 3 from Jim Shepherd and 1 from Sebastian Lewis. In truth it was a great team performance which neutralised the known attacking threat of Kentisbeare. Once again Will Tutchings and Reece Allen made a formidable barrier in defence and keeper Jake Newman was able to mop up the few attempts on goal that made it past them, whilst Thomas Roome and Richard Deeshapland provided the dynamic link in midfield.

An excellent performance by United who were strengthened by Jake Newman's calm and experience in goal. United took advantage of a favourable breeze in the first half, and after a series of corners Ruari Mold popped up in the goal area to thread the ball past a dumbfounded Sidmouth defence. Despite playing into the wind in the second half United continued to make chances and Richard Deeshapland produced a menu of silky skills that nearly led to a second goal. The draw was a fair result in an excellent match.

Classically a game of two halves saw United leading 3-1 at half time and perhaps feeling a little over confident. Cain Garry scored twice during a short escape from his goalkeeping duties and Ben Haigh popped up in the goal area to score a good goal. The second half rout never happened and the enthusiasm to attack left alot of gaps in defence. Broadclyst played well and in the end deserved the victory.

One of United's best performances of the season was built on good defending and thoughtful passing. United looked the stronger side throughout the game and Cain Garry was not really troubled in the United goal. Aidan Pring continued his fine form and scored three goals. Leon Ryder Potter enhanced his reputation as a free kick specialist, hammering the ball into the goal from the edge of the area. Tiverton took the lead in the first half with a diving header from a corner. Central played well and came back strongly in the second half. Seb Lewis saw a well taken free kick marvellously saved from under the bar, Everything was looking set for a deserved draw until a moment of brilliance from Tiverton within seconds of the final whistle when a shot from a tight angle out on the touchline flew into the top corner of Central's goal. If you have to lose the last game of the season in the last minute then at least it was from a goal that was well worth it.
