Central Yellows 5 West Hill Hornets 0
It was a good start to the season for Central Yellows against West Hill Hornets with an
impressive 5 - 0 victory. Despite a determined effort by West Hill Hornets, who only had 8 men,
Central demonstrated excellent passing skills and team spirit which allowed them to retain the
upper hand through out. There were two goals from Jamie Dunsford, two from Joe McCrea and
one from Jack Hoskins.

Whipton Youth 4 Central Reds 1
Central Reds started strongly as a new side who had not previously played together,
however Whipton were stronger and scored two goals in the middle of the first half. We had a storming
section at the end of the first half culminating in Dan McLaurin scoring a good goal. All looked promising for
the second half and it was a very close affair with chances at both ends. We thought we had at least held
onto the 2-1 score line, but unfortunately Whipton scored 2 goals in the last 3 minutes. The Reds still
played well, and with further practice and matches playing together we will be a strong side.

Central Reds 4 West Hill Hornets 1
Central Reds had a great match this week, winning 4-1 against West
Hill Hornets. We played well during the first half with a goal from
Dan McLaurin against 1 from the opposition. However the second half
the team played superbly with another goal from Dan, Oliver Warren
and an own goal from West Hill Hornets. Our attack was much stronger
with good through balls from Jim Clemoes linking up with Dan. Most
importantly everyone played as a team supporting each other. Well Done.

Central Reds 2 Beacon Knights 1
Another very close match for Central Reds where we played with
good commitment to hold off a talented Beacon Knights team. James
Seigne scored two good goals with good support from the team, and
great individual skill to finish. A great save from Henry Cobbald in
the first half kept us level at 1-1. Well done to the team.

Central Yellows 0 Alphington 1
There were lots of chances at both ends of the pitch in a closely fought
game. Alphington eventually came out winners with one goal despite some
determined defending from Central.

Feniton 2 Central Reds 3
Central Reds were involved in yet another very close game which was
good standard football all the way through. During the first half we
had at least 6 shots on goal, but did not quite get the break we
deserved. The second half was far closer with Feniton scoring 2 good
goals. However the team showed real commitment to get 3 goals, 1
each from Dan McLaurin, Patrick McAndrew and Thomas Holstein. It was
even better to see the team beginning to pass and use the space with
the bigger pitches. Well done.

Central Reds 1 Broadclyst 1
This was another close match with both teams playing well. We had
plenty of chances in the second half, with at least 5 shots on goal,
one of which James Seigne scored. The defence played very well to
keep Broadclyst out with determined and disciplined play. Well done.

Central Reds 1 Feniton 0
This was a really close cup match with a single goal from Jim Clemoes
from a free kick separating the sides. Both teams played with
flowing football, with Central passing the ball well in attack to set
up many chances. However, we were not able to get the crucial score
until one of the Feniton players hand balled on the edge of the area,
and Jim hit a great shot to score the goal. Well done team, and on
to the second round of the cup.

Central Reds 1 Pinhoe Pumas 2
This was an extremely close match with both teams
playing good passing football. Pinhoe played the better football in the
first half with a good goal caused by a slight defensive error for us.
We made a few changes in position at half time to strengthen our midfield
and enable them to link up more effectively with our attack.
We then came back strongly in the second half with a early great goal
from James Seigne where the midfield and attackers linked up well.
Unfortunately Pinhoe got one more goal in when our defence was not
quite marking as tightly as they were for all the rest of the game.
However, a really good performance from Central and very unlucky not
to have got a draw which would have been the fair result. I am sure
we will bounce back for next week.

West Exe 2 Central Reds 0
Central Reds played a good game against an organised
and tough West Exe team. It was definitely a "game of 2 halves". We went
2 goals down in the first half, when we did not make our tackles as strongly
as necessary and our players were not linking up effectively. Also we lacked
the hunger for goals that West Exe showed. However the second half was
completely different with all players contributing strongly, working together,
making tackles and more importantly some great shadow tackling. We had so
many chances with Dan hitting the bar, Patrick, George and Jim all having
shots we were very unlucky to not score at least 2 goals. Callum had a
great half in goal for the second half with some very good saves (even
though he did not want to go in goal), supported ably by a strong defence
with Oliver, Kaleb & Joseph. So although we lost 2-0, all the players should
be proud of the way they stuck to the task showing great character on
a very cold day.
Our New Year Resolution will be that for the second half
of the season, we need to
concentrate on not losing the first half - which seems to be a recurring theme.
If we can perform for the full hour in the way we do in the second half we
will win all our matches. Have a great break and look forward to seeing
everyone 5th January. Merry Christmas & a happy New Year.

Central Reds 1 Whipton Yth 5
Central Reds played excellent football for the first half with
everyone in the team working hard and playing together. We were able
to use the width of the pitch better with a slightly changed format.
This meant no goals at half time, and anyone's game. Whipton scored
early in the second half, but we came back immediately with a hard
strike from Jim Clemoes not held by their keeper and the rebound
knocked in by Kaleb Gaal. However we then lost our concentration and
let in 4 goals in 4 minutes, which meant the whole team looked
deflated and tired. However after that they played again with spirit
to keep out any further goals. George Grimsey was our man of the
match with a determined performance in midfield.

West Hill Hornets 1 Central Yellows 5
Nervous first half for both teams saw a 0-0 score line at half time.
Central Yellows looked more themselves second half with good passing seen in midfield
and down both wings to open up the game. Central Yellows soon scored two quick goals
from Jack Hoskins and Jamie Dunsford. Amrik Arshi and Harry Allbrook both on target
to see a 4 - 0 score line. Jack Hoskins then had a solo run down the right midfield
with his shot hitting the back of the net for his second. West Hill rallied to have
a couple of good final attacks that saw a classic save from Joe McCrea Smith but the
second attack saw a goal and a final score of Yellows 5, West Hill 1.

West Hill Hornets 1 Central Reds 3
It was difficult for our team to get fully motivated as West Hill
unfortunately only had 7 players. However we played reasonably in
the first half with 3 good goals. Two from Henry Cobbold & one from
George Grimsey. It will be a tough match next week, and we will need
to work our our marking and playing the ball into space.

Central Yellows 0 Cullompton 4
A slow start cost the Yellows today. They were four nil
down within twenty minutes against a well organised Cullompton. Although
they picked up and had many chances in the second half, it was not to be our day.

Beacon Knights 3 Central Reds 0
We played a good first half where we competed very hard against a
committed Beacon Knights team. We were beginning to find space, and
putting some good passes together but we could just not convert into
a goal. During the second half we struggled to play the same open
expansive football and conceded 3 goals. However, we are really
beginning to play as a team and good luck for our cup tie next weekend.

Alphington 3 Central Yellows 1
Yellows lost 3-1 to high flying Alphington in a hard
fought match. Central could have more goals having had chances cleared
off the line in the first half and Joe Mc Crae Smith hitting the inside
of the post late in the game. Jamie Dunsford scored for Central with a
superb hit from outside the box. All the Central players had excellent
attitude and concentrated well today.

Central Reds 2 Feniton 0
After a few weeks of disappointing results, we had
a great win on Saturday with the whole team playing good flowing football.
We were passing well between the mid field and strikers meaning that we
put some good attacking movements together. This gave us a great goal
from James Seigne in the first half, and an equally good goal from Dan
McLaurin in the second half. We also kept our concentration and played
hard for a full match. Well done and we look forward to the next win.

A hard fought game in the rain by two evenly matched sides, but ended
Central's drought with a two nil win. Goals from Jamie Dunsford and Ben
Sargent secured the win

Broadclyst 3 Central Reds 0
This was a hard game in the cold & rain, and unfortunately Broadclyst
coped with the conditions better. However Central Reds battled well
and put together some good passages of play. Let's hope for sunshine
next week!!

Central Yellows 1 Newton Knights 3
An under strength Central Yellows lost 1-3 in a very close free
flowing game. Both teams tried to play a passing game and there could have been more
goals for both sides. Jamie Dunsford scored the Central goal. Special mention for
stand in Goalkeeper Joe McCrea Smith who pulled off some superb saves and his all
round game was excellent.

Cullompton Rangers 2 Central Reds 1
Central Red's played far better than last week with a good
show of passing football. George Grimsey scored a good goal in the first half,
made from a good move down the left wing by Jim Clemoes. Oliver Warren also
saved a penalty in the first half, but unfortunately Cullompton sneaked a goal
just before half time. The second half was good football from both teams, with
Cullompton taking the honours with a good goal. However we played with credit,
and are now passing the ball well. We just need more hunger for goals and more
determination in potential scoring positions. Good luck for next week.

Central Reds 2 Newton Knights 3
This was a very close match played well by both teams.
Central held against some sustained pressure during the first half with some
good goalkeeping from Dan McLaurin. Both teams scored in the first half; our
goal was made by a great break from Deji finished off by Jack Pattison. The
second half was just as intense with good play from both teams and Patrick
McAndrew was Central’s scorer. We were unlucky to lose, but well played team.

Feniton 1 Central Yellows 1
A hard fought match ended with honours even. Both
teams tried to play a passing game on the small pitch. Central's scorer
was Joe McCrea Smith, Feniton’s goal came from a penalty.
