Broadclyst 4 Central 1
First game of the new season, away at Broadclyst and its raining. After
losing two players from last season and a few not able to make it for this
match, we only had one sub. We found out that Central Reds have folded but
were too late to sign any players up before this match.
This meant we had to
change a few players’ positions, biggest being putting Ed in defence. First
half we were moving and passing well, keeping a tight defence and getting
shots in. Ben Burak managed to get round their keeper as he dropped the
ball and scored. Now playing 35 minutes each half, we only had about 5
minutes to hold on when they scored an equaliser.
Second half everyone wet through, cold and tired didn’t go as well. We had
to take Ben Grayson off having a leg injury, so meant changing positions of
a few. Bringing Ross on the right wing to replace Jarod, who took Ed’s place
in defence. Ed moved to Ben’s midfield position. We held off for a bit then
it seemed to go a bit down hill. Broadclyst scored 3 goals in the second
half.
They all played great and worked well as a team, the Broadclyst
manager saying the score didn’t reflect their performance. Now with three
weeks training and new players signing on, we can look forward.

Twyford 3 Central 9
The match was played in bitter conditions with a wind chill that put the temperature well below freezing.
The team were in good spirits despite some previously disappointing results. This week we only had 6 players unavailable in
comparison to previous weeks when seven or eight were unavailable so we could pick a stronger team this time around.
Twyford were not so fortunate as they only had 10 players primarily because they play in
both Saturday and Sunday leagues.
We started off with some good attacking football and Ross Clotworthy was first on the score sheet one
of the best goals he has scored (he doesn’t score many!!). This made the team very fired up and Twyford struggled to
keep us at bay especially the pace of Ayed Omari who continued throughout the first half to tear through their defence
eventually scoring a hat trick with some well taken goals. Sam Philpot also scored a brace, one a well taken header from a
corner and he linked up well with Ayed.
At half time we were 8 – 0 up so we made some changes and brought on three subs and rested three
of the better players. This clearly was an error in judgement as Twyford came back to score three goals in quick succession.
We then changed the system again and then proceeded to score ourselves, making the final result 9 – 3. A good all round
team effort.

Westexe 6 Central 3
The team were in good spirits for this encounter with 2nd in the table Westexe. Central started off the brighter team
with some early pressure culminating in a well taken goal by in form Ayed Omari. This however, made Westexe wake up and start
to play an awesome display of passing football carving through our defence with 5 goals in quick succession.
At half time we looked shell shocked, so we decided to put on three subs and put Ben
Grayson up front with Ayed, and Ed Hammond in defence. The subs were lively and our changed formation paid off with a through
ball from Ayed onto Ross Clotworthy who slotted it into the bottom left corner. We then had a spell of pressure but we just
couldn’t finish. Westexe then broke away and scored but we came back through a rifled shot from Ben Grayson which
actually went under the crossbar and in to make the final score 6 – 3 to Westexe

Central 1 Brixington Youth 1
After last weeks very disappointing performance against Alphington, I wasn’t sure if the team were
ready for another tough game against 4th in the table Brixington. However, on a bitterly cold day Central played their socks
off and thoroughly deserved the draw. The difference was Ed Hammond and Ayed Omari in the centre of midfield.
Both of them never stopped running and controlled the midfield playing some excellent
passing football. The defence seemed to build in confidence as the game went on with Jack Keogh making some telling tackles to
keep the score at 0 -0 at half time. The team started the second half brightly but were reminded on several occasions of
Brixington’s forwards pace as Brixington began to put us under a lot of pressure,
Marcus Brooks, in only his second time in goal for us, pulled off a number of cracking saves to keep us in
the match. We then took the lead when Ed and Ayed passed their way through the midfield onto Ben Grayson who laid an excellent
through ball to release Louis Hooper who hit an unstoppable shot to make us 1 – 0 up with ten minutes to play. This
seemed to wake Brixington up who piled on the pressure to equalise with two minutes to go, when we failed to clear from a
free kick.
