Under 13s Main Page Match Reports Sponsors Notes for the Start of 2008/09 Season Central Football Club runs two teams in the Under 13's age group, Central Scorpions and Central Spitfires. Both teams play in the Exeter Friendly League. Martyn Woods is the coach of the Spitfires and this is his second season at the helm. Martyn and another parent helper Simon, have recently completed their FA Coaching Badge (level 1) and have seen their team grow over the past 12 months with healthy player numbers. This has happened through a mixture of encouraging the children's footballing development, passing on their enthusiasm for the game, and making training sessions fun. Rachael Chandler is the new coach of the Scorpions who through no fault of their own lost their coach half way through last season. However with Rachael now running the team the future looks very bright and everyone involved with the team is looking forward to the season ahead. Rachael is keen to establish good basic ball skills and promote a team ethic. The club has a strong tradition of sportsmanship and fair play and both coaches are committed to ensuring this continues and although both teams want to be competitive and win football matches the overriding focus is always on enjoyment. Both teams promote and benefit greatly from strong parental support, and after matches its the parents who pick the man-of the-match awards. Both teams are currently looking for new players and either coach is happy to be contacted on the numbers listed below at any time during the season. All Central teams play their home games at King George V Playing Fields at the Countess Weir end of Topsham Road. One or other of the teams can generally be found there on Saturday mornings between 10.00am and 12.00 noon. Both teams also hold midweek training throughout the season. The Scorpions meet on Tuesday evenings and the Spitfires meet on Wednesdays, please contact the coaches for further information. Rachael Chandler Martyn
