Central 1-4   Sidmouth

Having come into this match with 3 wins on he trot, the team were confident; but this did not show through from a lacklustre performance where very few of our players really rose to the occasion.  However George Grimsey, Amrik Arshi & Ben Sargent had good games pushing a good Sidmouth side all the time.  However we were not as strong as usual in defence and let in some soft goals.  We had plenty of chances throughout the match which we could not convert into actual goals, apart from a great individual run from Joe McCrea-Smith finishing with a great shot into the top right corner.  I am sure we ill do better on Tuesday night.

Saturday 10th April 2010
Tedburn 3-4 Central

Unfortunately Tedburn had only 10 players so we matched them to make it even.  Our defence in the first half was not as sharp as normal and we conceded 2 soft goals against a good Tedburn attack.  However George Grimsey got an excellent goal in the first half, scored from a long ball through from Joe McCrea-Smith and finished off well by George going round the keeper.  We changed 4 players at half time to give everyone a match and changed the system to 3-4-2.  The defence were much better in the second half and really held up the Tedburn attack with good contributions from Calum, Ben & Oliver.  This gave us greater depth in midfield resulting in more possession and better passing.  Patrick McAndrew was brought down in the penalty area, and Jack Hoskins scored the penalty;  then Patrick headed in a corner from Ben Sargent.  Tedburn had scored a third goal to set up another nail-biting finish.  However we came away with the victory after Joe McCrea-Smith found the back of the net.

This the 3rd victory in a row - we now need to keep this form up for the rest of the month.

Saturday 3rd April 2010
Feniton 4-5 Central

The weather for the first half today played a big part as it was cold and raining heavily.  We won the toss so elected to play up the hill which with the weather made it a very difficult first half.  Our defence was not as sharp as normal ending up with us conceding 2 soft goals that we would normally have defended.  However some great work on the wing by George Grimsey and in attack by Jack Hoskins gave us 2 goals to mean it was all even 2-2 at half time. In fact if it had not been for some fine saves from the Feniton goalkeeper we would have had at least 2 more.  The second half we again let in 2 quick goals before at last our defence came together and very effectively closed a good Feniton attack down.  Joe McCrea-Smith & Jim Clemoes each got 2 fine goals to level up at 4-4.  With only 1 minute left Feniton conceded a corner, from which Jim Clemoes scored a second goal to win the match.  Well done to both sides for keeping going in such difficult conditions, and a great result for Central.

Central 1-8 Topsham

With only 10 players available Central played some great football and were unlucky to go in at half time 2 - 1 down. The second half saw Topsham make more of the extra man and eventually come out with an 8 -1 win.

Centrals goalscorer was Travis Hudson, star performances for Central from Joe Mcrea Smith and Jack Hoskins.

Central Falcons 4-1 Cullompton

A game of two halves, both teams started slowly and Central were lucky to Reach half time 2 -1 ahead. The second half saw Central get into their stride And eventually came away with a deserved 4 -1 win. Goals for Central came from Amrik Arshi, Jim Clemoes, George Grimsey  and Ben Sargent.Cullompton’s scorer George Fenlon.

Saturday 13th March 2010
Alphington 2 - 1 Central

Alphington are the only team in our league not to have dropped a point yet this season so this was a big match for us. It was an incredibly even contest with us only conceding the winning goal in the lat 3 minutes.  However the first half saw us constantly breaking down the wings with very good games from Ben Sargent on the left & George Grimsey on the right.  Both managed to get into space and often beat the defence.  We won a free kick on the edge of the penalty area just before half time, and Jim Clemoes scored an excellent goal high in the top corner. It was always going to be tough to hold onto this lead through the second half and Alphington scored a very good goal fairly quickly to level the score.  Jim Clemoes and Joe McCrea-Smith had very good games in central midfield constant closing down their attacks and assisting our strong defence.  However with just 3 minutes to go they got a free kick on the edge of the penalty area and scored.

I know you were all disappointed with losing so near the end, but this was a very good performance from all players with some great commitment and strong tackling; you should be pleased with the way you all played. If we carry on playing like this we will have a good end to the season.

Saturday 6th March 2010
Seaton 1 - 1 Central

This was a hard match for our team with over half our squad training for the Exmoor challenge. Therefore we could only field 9 players, and Seaton generously offered to match by playing only 9 as well. However it was a very even game with both sides playing good football. Patrick Fox had another good game in central defence looking very solid. Joe McCrea-Smith & Jack Hoskins played well in midfield, managing to help in defence and taking the ball up to give us some good scoring opportunities. Jack capitalised on wone of these runs with a very good goal, beating the Seaton goalkeeper. Well done to the whole team.

Saturday 12 December 2009
Central Falcons 2 - 4 Tedburn Saints

A close game in difficult conditions due to the long grass. Central started tentatively for the first time this season and were lucky to get to half time level at 2 – 2 ( goals from Travis Hudson and a penalty from Jack Hoskins).
Tedburn scored 2 early goals in the second half and despite a strong finish from Central , Tedburn held on for all 3 points.

Saturday 21st November 2009
Central 6 - 1 Seaton

Central played some great football today with accurate passing and for the first time this season getting the ball out wide to the wings with accurate crosses and good finishing. Both Ben Sargent & Jack Hoskins had great games passing a well organised Seaton defence, with goals from Jamie Dunsford & Patrick McAndrew coming from their crosses. Jack scored a couple of his own, one he would happily give the credit to Jame Seigne who shot the ball straight to him for a simple finish. The Central mid field played with more passion than recent weeks and kept good control, with Joe McCrea Smith going through the Seaton defence for a good individual goal. Our defence was strong, and our man of the match was Bhilhan Jogireddy for great tackling and good sense of where Seaton would break through. This was Bhilhan's last match for Central and we wish him well.
Well done team, we now need to build on the good work this week.

Central 0 - 6 Westexe Rangers

We had a good first half against West Exe and played some attractive passing football, meaning that at half time the score was 0-1 to West Exe. However in the second half we did not defend as strongly, and they were able to take some good long range shots and beat us comfortably. Better luck next week

Saturday 17th October 2009
Seaton 1 - 3 Central Falcons

Central came away with a 3-1 win at Seaton in the first round of the League cup. The superb pitch meant that both sides played some fine passing football. Central's goal keeper, Joe Perry, had little to do for most of the match, but as Seaton made their final push he made two fine saves. Central's scorers, Patrick McAndrew, Ben Sargent and Joe McCrea-Smith.

Saturday 3rd October 2009
Feniton 1 - 4 Central Falcons

At last Central Falcons played like a hungry unit wanting to win a match. They started at a fast pace, with some quick passing and intelligent moving the ball around the mid field. THis proved too quick for Feniton, and some long passes beat the Feniton defence offside trap getting the Central players through. 4 goals came in quick succession by continuing to dominate in the mid field; 2 from Travis Hudson, 1 from Jack Hoskins and 1 from Joe McCrea-Smith. Central then started to slow a little, and Feniton improved their game with much more fluid movement. Central defence then made their contribution with hard tackles, and not letting the Fention forwards get control of the ball. However soon into the second half, Feniton got a goal back. A dramatic end to the match came with a penalty awarded to Feniton, brilliantly saved by the Central goalkeeper Jo Perry.

Well done Central, a great match and you deserved the win. You played as a unit, constantly encouraging each other with some good and precise passing. Strong defence gave the midfield the confidence to push forward and make more of the possession we won, with some good finishing from all 3 goal scorers. We now need to work on the strengths shown, and improve on the areas mentioned at the end. Please do not forget the training schedule; fitness was showing towards the end and we need to be able to compete for the full 70 minutes. However, a great result and you made all the parents proud - so should you be!!

Saturday 26th September 2009
Central Falcons 1 - 4 Topsham

Central Falcons started very well this match with real pressure put on Topsham. This resulted in a corner to us taken by Ben Sargent with Calum Sowden getting his first goal for Central. However from then on we did not concentrate as effectively with limited possession the mid-field. This resulted in letting Topsham back into the match, and they scored 4 good goals. We need to concentrate more next week, and keep our shape and form throughout the match.

Saturday 19th September 2009
Ottery St Mary 4 - 3 Central

An excellent game of football saw Central lose 4 -3 to Ottery. Central's passing game showed a lot of promise for the rest of the season.
Centrals goal scorers were Patrick Mc Andrew 2 and captain Joe Mc Crea Smith 1.
