Nearly 200 people of all ages packed the function suite at the Coaver Club for
the Club's first ever race evening. The Coaver Club proved to be the ideal venue
and the night kicked off with a warm up session from Nigel with Irish Bingo
which set the scene and got everyone revved up and eagerly awaiting the first
race! Betting was via a Tote system, and as the projector rolled the atmosphere
was electric and built to almost fever pitch! As the evening progressed the
laughter, cheering and banter increased right up to the last race, Race 8, which
was the sponsor's and auction race with each sponsor owning a horse with a
chance to win a luxury hamper, which was won by Pete at Power Marketing. The
Tote raffle at the end of the evening saw many kindly donated raffle prizes
being eagerly won. The evening proved a resounding success for the Club, as a
family event enjoyed by all who attended, raising a significant amount for the
Club.
Without the hard work of the organising committee the event could not have taken
place so a big thank you goes to Nicky Brace, Tim Clotworthy and Martyn Woods and
Martyn's son!
